Experiences Gift Guide

Christmas is coming…do you feel ready?

I’m ready for the magic of the Christmas season. What I’m NOT ready for is the feeling of chaos and stress as I try to get all the things done. Do you feel me?

I have decided I’m not doing that this year. I’m getting my shopping done EARLY (the goal is to have everything purchased by December 1st). So I thought I would take you along the journey and maybe inspire some early Christmas gift shopping for you as well.

Gift giving is one of the areas my #becomingminimalist has spilled over into (I talk about this more in THIS VIDEO, if you’re interested in chatting about it more). I find that when choosing gifts for my family, I’m trying to choose experiences over stuff whenever possible.

Trendy toys are fun and all that…for a season. But then you’re tossing or donating them to the next kid. I’m really focused on giving them something they can experience or something that will stand the test of time.

So without further delay, here are my favorite ideas for giving experienced-based gifts this holiday season. I hope it inspires you as you shop for those you love most in our life.

  1. MUMALOO CRAFT BOX
We love this craft box because it includes everything you need (including adhesive) all in one box. The instructions were mostly in pictures, making it easy for even your non-readers to put together without supervision.
  2. BALANCE BIKE
Bikes for all ages would make an excellent gift that the family could enjoy all year long. This balance bike is a great introduction for the toddler in your life.
  3. RAZOR SCOOTER
We have bought these time and time again because they are truly the best! Even though electric scooters are all the rage, I much prefer my kids getting physical exercise on a traditional scooter. Don’t miss this Black Friday steal for only $20!
  4. GET OUT PASS
Nothing beats experiences for the entire family. A pass like this will enable you so many memorable nights, rather than a one time thing. Use my code “THISDOMESTICATEDDIVA” for 55% off!
  5. UNIVERSAL YUMS BOX
Like us, maybe you also had hopes and dreams of traveling with your children, but the current economy has made that difficult. Give the gift of culture to your family with this fun and engaging subscription box! Each month you get to experience popular snacks from a different country and answer trivia questions. This is truly fun for all ages!
  6. ELEVE VOICE LESSONS
Did you ever dream of becoming a musician but life got in the way of making that a reality? As moms, we often put our own dreams on the back burner to take care of everyone else. Its time to do something for yourself. Eleve takes voice lessons to the next level, available through Marco Polo so that you can take them on your own time!
  7. SKATEBOARD
If your kid has already mastered the bike and scooter and is ready to take it to the next level, a skateboard just may be your best bet! We’ve purchased this brand before and it held up well to a lot of abuse and always has really cute designs.
  8. ART KIT
For any budding artist, this kit includes all sorts of mediums to experiment with and has kept my kids busy for literally hours.
