When you think of me, I doubt the word “punctual” comes to mind. Even if you’ve never met me in person, I’m sure my last minute tendancies have shown their hand once or twice around here. Yeah? I have a bad habit of underestimating how much time something will take or having too much confidence in my ability to work best under pressure. Some call it poor time management skills (mainly my husband), but whatever.
Even though I have a track record of tardiness…this is definitely the latest I’ve ever been!
“With what?” you ask.
With a New Year’s resolution.
Yep. You read that right.
Okay…not a “resolution” so much…because, if you’ve been around here for some time, you’ll know that annually I choose one little word to theme my year around rather than go the resolution route. I just felt that calling it a “resolution” would be the simplest what to describe it. But I digress…
In the past, I’ve certainly had years I’ve been later than others. The main difference is that every other year I had my word picked out on January 1st, I just had a hard time getting my thoughts down. THIS YEAR…I had a hard time choosing the word. But now that it’s finally come to me I realize that it wasn’t that it was hard…it was that I was fighting it. Because the reality is, theming my year around this word is going to be really, really hard. It’s going to require a lot from me.
Are you ready to hear it??
My One Little Word for 2019 is…
Yikes. That’s a big one to swallow, friend.
I shared recently a little bit about our journey to this place in our life. Now that this chapter is coming to a close, we can feel that our family is at a bit of a crossroads. We’re SO EXCITED to cross that finish line…but also a little bit terried at what’s on the other side. I mean, what IS on the other side?? As we navigate where God wants to plant us to start this new career, it’s going to require some major fearlessness.
Many of you know I started my own business a year and a half ago. I love what I do! It brings me so much joy to bring smiles to other women’s faces but I know to take my business to the next level, I’m going to have to push myself out of my comfort zone. That’s going to take a lot of fearlessness.
Those are only two examples, but I could give many more. I know that God wants to grow my faith this year and stretch my trust muscles and if I’m honest — I’m shaking in my boots a bit! But I know that when we were at our lowest, He dug us out. When we didn’t know where to turn, He gave us direction. We thought we were living our dream, but He told us to dream bigger. So I have complete confidence that wherever He leads us in 2019 is going to be GREAT and I’m not going to let fear hold me down!
