If you’ve been hanging around here lately, you may have noticed a couple of changes to my blog. One of them being that little “essential oils” tab up there. Although I haven’t posted about them yet here, I have been sharing my new-found obsession on Instagram and Facebook. Why not here? Well, simply put – I have been trying to put into words how our life has been changed by them. So here I go…
About two years ago, I was introduced to essential oils by my close friend, ASHLEY. Although I expressed interest several times, she was patient with me and simply educated me as I processed. I don’t know how many times I told her, “as soon as I have the money – I’m all in!” Maybe you don’t already know this about me, but I’m kind of an all or nothing person. I didn’t want to just try a couple oils and see how it went. I either wanted the “full meal deal” or nothing at all!
Fast forward two years…
Picture this fed up mama, with sickness after sickness plaguing her family, and some Christmas cash burning a hole in her pocket. As much as I wanted to splurge on some much-needed wardrobe essentials, my husband and I agreed that it was time to take the plunge with essential oils and see if we could get our family’s health back on track.
We had one simple goal – to get our family off of daily medication. That included ibuprofen, inhalers, allergy medication, and eczema cremes. I was fed up with our morning line up for a long time, but it really hit me one evening when my sobbing Hollywood asked, “do I have to take this every day for the rest of my life?” That was the night I placed my order for my enrollment kit and signed up as a wholesale distributer.
As we waited for our order to arrive on our doorstep, we all fell like dominos to yet another illness. I was hoping to take it slow and ease into the whole “oily” lifestyle – but God had different plans for us. As we took turns falling victim to a series of ailments (eye infection, ear infection, sore throat, cough, tummy ache, nausea), and with the use of our essential oils, cleared each up in record timing, miraculously avoiding a doctor’s visit (and therefore – a copay) altogether.
Needless to say, in one short (or long…depending on how you look at it) week we were convinced we made the right decision! And now, three months later, we are off of all our daily medications, just as we had hoped!
In complete transparency, we do still have to use them (medications) sometimes. When we have an asthma flare up, for example, we combine the use of essential oils with our inhalers. But I can’t tell you what a relief it is to assure my son that no, he won’t need to take that every day for the rest of his life.
