When you’re a mom, especially a mom of littles, functional becomes a bigger priority than fashion. That’s when we can lose our way a little bit, in sense of style. I know I certainly did the first time around!
Out popped this little human who completely relied on me, consumed every ounce of my energy, and who I would give everything for. With all the demands that motherhood drops in your lap, suddenly there’s no time for you. Between breastfeeding, not sleeping, cleaning up blowouts, installing car seats, and running late for literally everything…I barely had time to eat a nutritious meal, let alone put together a stylish outfit! That’s where the mom uniform came in handy – a good ‘ole t-shirt and jeans! It completely became my go-to (just like every other mom out there, hence the name).
The third time around, I’m just as busy with the demands of motherhood (scratch that – a lot more busy), but I’ve learned some things in the style department. While it’s so easy to lose yourself in motherhood, let me warn you that one day they grow up and if you haven’t stayed true to yourself, you might feel a bit lost!
One of the ways (one of the many ways) I have stayed true to myself is to get ready every day, even if I’m not stepping foot out my front door. It puts me in the right mental state for whatever life throws at me! While my style remains a bit more simplified in order to be functional, accessories are a fun way to express myself and jazz up…yep, you guessed it – even the mom uniform! It’s amazing what a pair of earrings and a bracelet can do for polishing off your look, am I right?
When it comes to earrings, look for something with a little dangle and a hint of shimmer to catch the eye.
