It’s so easy to let the winter blues get you down this time of year. But as we all know, the easiest way to get rid of that frowny face is by focusing on the positive going on in your life. I’m still buzzing off our new beginnings…but when that begins to fade, I just remind myself that Spring is right around the corner. So in effort to put a smile on your face, here are 5 things I’m loving right now!
/ ONE / My new Journaling Bible
My absolute favorite Christmas gift this year was my Journaling Bible (affiliate). I waited years to get my hands on one to call my own (simply because it was out of my budget) and spent the last year or so coloring between the lines of my regular, non-journaling Bible. As a creative soul, artistic expression helps me to relate to what I am reading on a deeper level. I’m still struggling with getting myself on a schedule, and therefore finding the time to journal everyday. But I know it takes time to acclimate to a new environment, so I’m giving myself some grace as I adjust.
What I love about this particular Bible is the beautiful leather wrap cover and the wide margins on each page to jot down notes, draw or paint on. The pages are a little thicker than a standard Bible so I have the freedom to get creative without completely ruining the following page. Of course, a certain amount of bleed through is normal on any Bible…but it’s at least less. So whether you are artistic or just wordy, you have space to just be you.
/ TWO / Dr. Axe’s blog
As a Natural Medicine expert, Chiropractor and Certified Nutrition Specialist, Dr. Axe’s blog is filled with nuggets of information. His information on essential oils and his recipes are my go-to…but spend a little time to explore his blog and you’ll see the wide variety of topics he covers. Specifically, I love reading his in depth information about various essential oils. Being that I’ve only been an oily user for a year now, I’m soaking in all the information I can get. But he also shares some delicious recipes and I am always hungry (pun intended) for education on nutrition. But be forewarned that time tends to escape from you!
/ THREE / Black and White everywhere
It’s no secret that I like to make a bold statement in about every aspect of my life (hellooo, purple hair anyone?!?). Home decor is no exception. Therefore, I can’t help but be drawn to the bold black and white patterns on everything from rugs to curtains to pillows. There is just the slightest possibility that it will take over my house. Although no one has really complained about it, at least within range of of my ears.
I recently invested in this graphic rug for my dining room. The space has never felt so complete. I mean, I am due for a little organization…but other than that I’m loving it.
/ FOUR / #shereadstruth devotional app
I would like to say that having a hard time finding time in the word each day is a mom thing, but in complete honesty, it is something I’ve struggled with my whole life. For that reason, and many more, I am so thankful for the convenience of devotional apps. Even while waiting in the school parking lot, I can get a little one-on-one with God regain that proper perspective on my day. She Reads Truth is particularly my favorite, incorporating scripture reading, story telling, art, music and community. There are several free reading plans, as well as ones available for purchase. I recently started the Lent 2016 plan. Try it out and let me know what you think!
P.S. He Reads Truth is now a thing…but I’m still waiting for it to be available on android for my hubby.
/ FIVE / Morning Lavender
It was one of those days where you lose yourself in the blog-o-sphere when I stumbled upon this spectacular boutique. I mean, what’s not to love? Besides the amazing branding (which the artist and aspiring business owner in me just adores), I am constantly impressed by the selection of quality items they keep in stock. I’ve purchased from ML a couple times and I just keep coming back for more.
Remember this top?
Maybe not, because I haven’t blogged outfits in ages. But it was a score from their online shop.
So tell me…what puts a smile on your face right now? Is it that gem of a book your reading? Or a new restaurant that has you drooling? I wanna hear!
