Last Minute Super Bowl Fashion (When You Don’t Have a Jersey)

I know all you sports fans out there are probably rolling your eyes. Your entire family stocked up on jerseys at the beginning of the season. Or, at the very least, some tee shirts. Great – you are set!

But if you are like me, the only football game you watch is the Super Bowl. Or maybe the playoffs….IF your home team made the cut. (Go Hawks!) but now that they have made it all the way to the championship game, even my kids are wanting to show some Seahawk pride! And while I am all for team spirit, I don’t really want to shell out big bucks on some merch that I likely won’t see again after February 1st.

Well fear not, there are still several ways to rock the green and blue this Sunday without breaking the bank.

TDD_SuperbowlFashion 1. Nail Polish

There is no easier or cheaper way to show off your teams colors! While Essie still holds my vote for best nail polish, I tend to opt for something a bit cheaper for something like this. Sally Girl is not only easy on the wallet (I think it costs a whopping 99 cents!) but comes in petite bottles. Perfect for those colors you want for a special occasion or wouldn’t want for every day. Cocoa already has her green picked out – “Peace”! (The title totally conflicts with the entire Superbowl theme, but the color is spot on!)

They also happen to have the perfect sized brush for tiny toddler fingers. I know this because Santa stuffs Cocoa’s stockings with this stuff every year!

Diva Tip – If you have a wiggly toddler/preschooler who is up and moving before the polish can even set, speed up that process by spraying some Pam on her nails! Makes drying time WORLDS faster! I don’t know why it works, but it does! Just make sure to have her wash her hands after a bit so you don’t get greasy fingerprints all over your house.

2. Clip-In Extensions

This is such a fun and temporary way put your team pride on display. While you can probably find some mall kiosks that carry this, I prefer Sally’s once again. They are comparable in price (maybe even cheaper) and they are real hair. If you are wearing your hair straight it doesn’t really matter. But if you are like me and prefer curled tresses, you want to make sure you don’t have anything synthetic. You will melt the extensions and put a nasty coating on your iron.

3. Make Up / Face Painting

Another super affordable option is make up and/or face paint. Pinterest has some really great inspiration for Super Bowl looks. I’m just trying to decide which one I should try to copy!

Not everyone is into face painting (it’s 50/50 in our house) but it is a great option, especially for the kids! You can find some affordable kits at craft stores and get creative. Or you can hire a professional to rock the ultimate look like Cocoa did here!

And I just so happen to have a friend in the make up biz who can bust out a fabulous Seahawks logo! But you better act fast if you want to snag her for your Super Bowl look!

4. Shoelaces

Add a simple pop of team spirit to any outfit by changing out your shoelaces to blue and green. Perfect for anyone who is short on time and not wanting to spend a lot. I promise, your efforts won’t go unnoticed. In fact, everyone will probably be wondering why they didn’t think of it!

5. Team Colors

If in doubt, everyone can do the simple job of shopping their closet for some blue and green. Chances are you will have something hiding in there that will be perfect for Super Bowl Sunday. And if not…may I suggest you get yourself to the store stat?

Well, I hope that gave you some inspiration for your Super Bowl look this year. You can check out my family’s look on Instagram this Sunday. I’ll be sure to post lots of pictures! If you get all decked out, please tag me on Instagram (@thisdomesticateddiva) to show of your team pride!
