The First Year

Somehow it’s been a whole year since this little man turned our world upside down and blessed us with his early arrival (classic youngest child behavior to demand all the attention, lol). It feels like a lifetime ago and it feels like yesterday. Since the moment I saw his face and heard his scream, I knew we wouldn’t have to worry about this little squish. Marshmallow’s name means “warrior” and he has proved to be just that.

In celebration of his first birthday, let’s take a look at how fast that first year went exactly.

My little early arrival spent his first 8 days in the NICU, hooked up to monitors and oxygen, making snuggles a challenge. But we worked through it, didn’t we little man?

As we neared his first-month milestone, we finally got around to snapping some newborn photos. // PC // Wyland Luke Photography

One of his fastest growing month (went from wearing Preemie clothes to 3 month clothes) and one of his first smiles captured on camera!

Baby Dedication was among one of the many highlights of that third month (a close second was CLEARLY our coordinating outfits that I didn’t even plan)!

Discovering your hands and feet is always a reason to celebrate!

Yes, it’s blurry…but it’s the best of baby’s first Halloween pics, so I had to share! Mommy and baby tiger! In true diva fashion, I bought our costumes hours before trick or treating.

Easily one of my all-time favorite photos of this kid! He had mastered the smile, not to mention the skill of putting all the things in his mouth. And I mean ALL the things!

First Christmas. First time at Grandma’s. First time meeting so many aunts and uncles. First snow. Clearly, it was an exhausting time of year!

I knew it was all downhill from here! Haha! Kidding, kidding. But seriously. Sitting up was just the tip of the iceberg.

The Valentine’s photo I never shared. We all know who holds his heart!

About the time I realized that my little baby didn’t look so little anymore.

Have I mentioned that this is my chunkiest kid yet? Look at that sweet Gerber baby face! And yes, I kiss those cheeks all day long!

Love you little man! You were the piece of my heart I didn’t know was missing! Now just be prepared for all the tears and all the kisses from your mama today. I can’t help myself. You’re my little miracle.

Can’t wait to show you the pics from his 1st Fiesta!!! Stay tuned!
