Would you believe me if I said I’d never had Butter Pecan anything until well into adulthood? Anyone in the South probably cringed at that thought and honestly? I get it.
Now that I have, it has quickly become a favorite of mine. Butter Pecan ice cream, Pancakes, Lattes, Bars…if you say it has that decadent Butter Pecan flavor? You can count on me giving it a try!
With the holidays being long gone, I needed to move on from my favorite holiday flavors and find something still suitable for Winter. I wasn’t sure what that thing would be until a recent trip to the local farmer’s market, where my favorite coffee stand made me the best Butter Pecan Oat Milk Latte. (Check out @bramblesandbuzzed on Instagram if you’re local to the Las Vegas area!)
Now I wouldn’t dare claim that my latte is anywhere near as good as their masterpiece. They do this for a living. I’m just a passionate coffee connoisseur. But I am very pleased with how this simple syrup turned out and if you’re at all a fan of the Butter Pecan flavors, I think you will too!
As a bonus, use this syrup to top your waffles this weekend and let me know what you think! I bet you’ll be in love!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped
2 tsp butter (give or take)
Drizzle of maple syrup (may substitute for maple extract or agave)
DIRECTIONS:
To start, we put one cup of water in a saucepan over high heat. Once it comes to a boil, add in two cups of sugar. Stir until completely dissolved. Once dissolved, add 1/2 cup of finely chopped pecans and stir. Lower heat, and let simmer without stirring for 5 minutes. Then add in two teaspoons of butter and a drizzle of maple syrup. Once the butter has melted, I pour the syrup over a strainer into a smaller jar. This little guy can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks!
*Notes:
I used one cup coconut sugar and one cup organic cane sugar.
In place of maple syrup, I had this blend of pure maple and agave from Trader Joes that is a favorite around here.
Let me know in the comments if you’re going to give this simple syrup a try and be sure to tag me on Instagram (@thisdomesticateddiva) so I can see your creations!
