Purchase with a Purpose 2015

Christmas always has, and always will be one of my favorite times of year. I love the family get-togethers, the meal planning and silly traditions. I love the never-ending heaps of baked treats served with hot cocoa and candy canes. I love teaching my children the art of gift-giving for their family and friends. I love the festive music and decor everywhere you turn. But most of all, I love the generosity that seeps out of the community for those in need, both locally and worldwide.

And I love love love when generosity and gift-giving collide.

Christmas is a mass-marketed industry, as we all well know. It seems that everywhere you turn, there’s another “must have” sale advertised to draw you in. While I know gift-giving isn’t everyone’s love language (how boring the world would be if we were all the same, right?), I think we all can agree that it is so much more than running into the most convenient store and picking up whatever’s on sale.

While it sometimes drives my husband crazy at how much thought I actually put into each gift, he knows that I find so much joy in not only hand choosing something that will truly put a smile on someone’s face (at least, that is always the intent), but that makes an impact in the world someway, somehow.

To Purchase with a Purpose is not a new concept. But it is one that is becoming easier every year. And a lot of that has to do with families like yours taking a stand and saying, “Whenever I can, I want to purchase ethically”. People are starting to demand it. And businesses are starting to step up to the plate. Each and every year that I put together a gift guide, it gets easier and easier.

I hope you join me and follow along this week, as I share with you some ideas to help you Purchase with a Purpose this year! After the posts go up, I’ll add them below here for an easy reference!
